Chicago @ Cambridge Theatre - Description
Fresh from her breath-taking performances on ITV’s Dancing on Ice, winner Suzanne Shaw joins CHICAGO as Roxie Hart for a limited season until 9 August 2008.
Having risen to fame on ITV’s Popstars and subsequently in the band Hear’Say, Suzanne is no stranger to the West End and has been seen as the Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Janet in The Rocky Horror Show.
Jerry Springer will make his West End stage debut starring as Billy Flynn on Monday 1st June 2009. Mr. Springer will play the part for a six week season. His last performance shall be on 11th July 2009.
Based on a 1926 play by Chicago Tribune reporter Maurine Dallas Watkins, Chicago tells the story of Roxie Hart, a chorus girl who murders her unfaithful husband, then manages not only to avoid prison with the help of razzle-dazzle lawyer Billy Flynn, but uses the trial to propel herself to showbiz stardom along with another murderous chorus girl, Velma Kelly.
Cast includes: Aoife Mulholland, Tiffany Graves and Ian Kelsey
Velma will be played by Rachel McDowell from April 13 until May 31 and then by Leigh Zimmerman until July 12
Roxie will be played by Aoife Mulholland until July 12
Billy will be played by Ian Kelsey until May 31 and then by Jerry Springer until July 11
The roles of Amos, Mama Morton & Mary Sunshine will be played by David Ganly, Gina Murray & N.Kiley respectively
The show is running until at least July 2010 and has already been an award winning and long-running success in the UK and America. There are some matinee performances scheduled in.
