Diwali at the square @ George Square - Description
Glasgow this November is playing host to Scotlands first Diwali celebrations and what better way to celebrate the festival of light than with a light festival? Oceanic consulting will be holding an event at Glasgow’s George Square on the 1st of November 2009 – 1.00pm until 7.00pm – which will capture the spirit of Diwali.
There are many ways in which the Southern Asian populous enjoys celebrating the religious day which shall be incorporated into the culturally rich event. Oceanic Consulting will be featuring a variety of entertainment such as: authentic Indian music along with aspiring musical and dancing talent; stalls for all the family to enjoy; including food, drink and fire breathers. At sunset George Square will light up with a fantastic light show to make the end of the first ever Diwali in Glasgow.
The event hosted by B4U Music’s very own Salil and Khushboo is supporting well known charity Sightsavers and will be holding a raffle to raise money for the cause, the winner receiving two tickets to India.
Glasgow is fast becoming Scotland’s most multi-cultural city, and by hosting the celebrations in George Square it will enable people from all walks of life and any age to come and enjoy one of India’s most exciting celebrations.
