Elton John was knighted Sir Elton Hercules John in 1998, but was born Reginald Kenneth Dwight in 1947.
He attended the Royal Academy of Music in London before joining the group, Bluesology, in 1965. Since 1969 he has toured across the world consistently as a solo performer and with the Elton John band.
