As part of the London Literature Festival 2009, three writers take another look at JB Priestley’s seminal work.
Sarfraz Manzoor, Nina Bawden and Margaret Drabble celebrate the 75th anniversary of JB Priestley’s legendary English Journey, and discuss its relevance to the present day. Tom Priestley, to whom the book is dedicated, introduces the event which will also include extracts from Southbank Centre writer in residence Lemn Sissay’s recent documentary for BBC Radio.
In an age when nationhood and identity are more fluid, yet are hotly contested, the event looks at the inspiration to be drawn from this prophetic and seminal work.
