The building has a stunning curved glass front and is constructed using environmentally friendly methods. The development has been undertaken with financial assistance primarily from Yorkshire Forward, Biffaward the Environment agency and the European Regional Development Fund. This award winning building is one of -greenest’ buildings in the UK. There are displays and quizzes to test how environmentally friendly you are and information on caring for our environment.
Country Park
Waters’ Edge Country Park has two sites of special scientific interest and is home to rare birds, plants and animals. There are two well-equipped children’s play areas and a network of footpaths, through the meadow and woodland and across the reed beds and ponds.
Wildlife surveillance network
Waters’ Edge is also home to an innovative wildlife surveillance network, the first of its kind in the country. High quality cameras have been installed across the site, ranging from a pan tilt and zoom camera on the south tower of the Humber Bridge to discreet lipstick sized cameras in individual nesting boxes. The live images give a wonderful insight into the secret world of the animals and birds that live in the Park.
