The Rise and Fall of Little Voice
Little Voice lives with her loud-mouthed mother, Mari. Unwilling to be part of her mother’s drunken and brash world LV finds escape from the harsh realities of her life by listening to the great female singers of the twentieth century. But when the music stops the voice continues – she can impersonate each star to perfection. Can Mari turn LV into a star? Will LV find true love? And will the fuse box survive yet another power surge?
Jim Cartwright’s gripping story of social standing, love and misfortune is fused with his infamous humour and some show stopping songs, which creates moving and wickedly hilarious dialogue.
Originally written and produced for the National Theatre, Litte Voice was adapted for the critically acclaimed and much loved film starring Jane Horrocks and Michael Caine.
